Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Constituency, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye says that the Black Stars were lucky to escape from South Africa with just a 1-0 defeat.

He says that a below par Black Stars team played against Ethiopia and every Ghanaian was afraid of what was to come against the Bafana Bafana following our poor showing against Ethiopia.

The former Sports Minister and journalist adds that the South Africans were poor that is why we ended up losing by just a lone goal.

Many Ghanaians have called for the head of C.K Akonnor following Ghana's dismal form against Ethiopia and South Africa.

Ghana currently sit second on the Group G standings tied on three points with Ethiopia with South Africa leading the pack.

Speaking in an interview with Starr FM, he says the coach is not the only problem as players are forced on him.

"We saw the team play against Ethiopia and after the match, we were afraid of what was going to happen in South Africa," he said on Starr FM.

"We were lucky we lost by one goal. Judging by their performance, the South Africans were not good, else they would have embarrassed us.

"From what I hear, the coach is not the only problem. You have a system where people are pushing for their players to be in the team," he continued.

"What will be the reason to change CK? I believe it's the whole technical bench, not CK alone. In the middle of world cup qualifiers, I don't think it's the time to change the coach."
