The Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh on Thursday inaugurated the new governing council for the university of Education Winneba after the expiration of the mandate of the old council somewhere in July this year.

Chairman of the new  17 member council, Prof Obeng Mireku is hopeful of uniting all stakeholders to bring everlasting peace to the school.

The university has been bedeviled with scandals upon scandals in recent times, from the ousting of a vice chancellor and replacing with a new one, lecturers being sacked and the old vice chancellor launching a coup d’état style take over on campus.

It has produced too many soap operas with students and all stakeholders playing varying roles in these dramas.

But the chairman of the new governing council says they will use the collective wisdom of the entire council members to improve the university insisting that they will examine every issue with the school.

“We count on the collective wisdom of every single member of the council and control with the relevant stakeholders been it staff, been it academics, been it student group, traditional authorities been it government interest all of them, all stakeholders will have to be consulted and through consultation and meaningful dialogue”. he stressed.
