The Head of Medical and Sports Science of  West Ham united, Stijn Vandenbroucke, has issued the latest update on Ghana and Hammers winger cum attacker, Andre Ayew, via the club's official website.

Vandenbroucke elaborated on the extent of the injury.

" Andre Ayew suffered a rare but very serious thigh injury at Chelsea, which will take time to recover from. Andre will not have surgery and we have started the rehab straight away, working two times a day". It read

Vandenbroucke, further kept hope that the winger is likely to return before December.

"Andre is a highly professional athlete with a positive attitude that no doubt will affect the return to play date. It is early to put a time-line on the rehab, but we are positive to reintroduce him in December".

Andre Ayew, who sustained an injury on his debut for the Hammers, is set to miss Ghana's last Afcon 2017 qualifiers against Rwanda and the 2018 World Cup qualifier this year.
