West Ham's Mohammed Kudus faces extended suspension and fine after red card incident
7th November 2024
West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus has received an extended two-match ban following his admission of violent conduct during the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on October 19.
The incident unfolded in the 82nd minute, triggering a confrontation after Kudus was initially shown a yellow card for a challenge on Tottenham's Micky van de Ven.
Following the initial foul, Kudus escalated the situation by pushing both van de Ven and Pape Matar Sarr in the face, resulting in a straight red card.
The Football Association has since increased his suspension from an initial three matches to a total of five games. This ruling means Kudus will not be eligible to play until West Ham's December 3 fixture against Leicester City.
In addition to the suspension, the Ghanaian international has been fined £60,000.
West Ham United has also been penalized £30,000 for failing to manage their players' conduct during the incident.
Despite this setback, Kudus has shown flashes of his talent, having scored two goals in his eight Premier League appearances so far this season.
