Championship side Peterborough have signed exciting Ghanaian forward Kwame Poku from EFL side Colchester United FC on a four year deal.

His transfer excites gaffer of Peterborough Darren Ferguson who rates the talented 19 year old forward highly.

Poku, who celebrates his 20th birthday next week, made 50 league starts for Colchester since making his senior debut for them in September, 2019.

The Ghana international, who had a year remaining on his contract at the JobServe Community Stadium, made a total of 75 league and cup appearances for the U's after making his senior debut for them in a Football League Trophy match at Gillingham.

“I am really excited about this signing. He is a young player that I have watched for the last 18 months, we enquired last season to Colchester when we played them, he didn’t feature that day in that friendly, we have monitored his progress.

“He had a bit of a stop-start season last year, which can happen with young ones. He can play as a ten, he can play wide right or even wide left at a push, he is a talented boy and I believe he has real potential. It is a really good signing for the football club.”
