Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed that the club's returnee player, David Luiz will play as a center back amidst speculations that the English outfit would fancy using the versatile player in midfield.

The Brazilian's return to London sparked a debate among bookmakers who are torn between a holding midfield role for the former Paris Saint Germain player and a more natural center back position.

The arrival of the club's fan favourite ignited talks of a possible return to a traditional 3-5-2 formation for the former Juventus coach who saw his 3 back defense style excel in the Italian league and with the Italian national team recently.

Football pundits have predicted a possible midfield role for Luiz who returned to Chelsea in a 30 million pound move from French top tier side Paris Saint Germain in the Italian's favourite 3-5-2 setup.

Antonio Conte has however told the club's official website that he intends to use the Brazilian in his natural position.

“I think David Luiz is a centre-back, he’s played a lot of games in that position,” he added. “I know sometimes he’s played as a central midfielder but in my mind the idea is to utilise him in the right position which, for me, is centre-back. He’s played with Chelsea previously and he will bring a good personality.” He said.

The manager's decision fuels the flames carrying messages of a return to his 3-5-2 formation considering the availability of former Leicester City midfield enforcer, Ngolo Kante.

Kante's presence in the Blues midfield will provide protection for the side's defense regarding Luiz' tendency to lose concentration occasionally.

Conte's side began the 2016/17 Premier League season with only two fit center backs in skipper John Terry and English international Gary Cahill.
