Belgian Marc Wilmots  is the new coach of Côte d'Ivoire, the country's Football Association said on Tuesday.

The Former coach of Belgium Wilmots has sign a two year deal to take over from   Frenchman Michel Dussuyer, who had left the technical bench of the Elephants after the fiasco at CAN 2017. His contract is two years renewable.

Wilmots 48, married and father of 3   arrived in Abidjan on Wednesday  21 March and is expected to hold  a press conference on Wednesday.

As a mission, Côte d'Ivoire is asking for the tickets for the 2018 World Cup and CAN 2019.

The former Belgian captain will face the challenge of building the Ivorian team that will play CAN 2021 to be held in the country Of Drogba Didier.

"It should be noted that 59 candidates have submitted to the post of Elephant coach. And none of them seduced the IFF. This is how Wilmots Marc was approached," a statement by the country's football federation read.

On 13 October 2015, Belgium won the group to qualify for the UEFA Euro 2016 but was fired by the Royal Belgian Football Association on 15 July 2016 After a disappointing European Championship.
