The LPG Marketing Companies in Ghana is calling for the withdrawal of the newly introduced Cylinder Recovery Levy by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).

According to the association, it recognises the fact that the regulator needs money to effectively roll out the Cylinder Re-circulation Model policy, but "we're resolute in our conviction that the regulator must find more innovative means to raise the needed revenue."

The NPA, last Wednesday, introduced GHc0.13 (thirteen pesewas) Cylinder Recovery Levy to support the CRM policy.

The new levy, the regulator claimed was to support the LPG Marketing Companies/ Oil Marketing Companies since they would be responsible for branding, safety and maintenance of the cylinders.

However, a statement signed by Mallam Bukari Amadu, said the LPG consumers are already burdened with taxes, thus, adding more taxes would overburden them.
