Graduates of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) have been handed over to institutions where they have acquired the necessary competence after undergoing months of tutelage.

The personnel included 150 Community Health Workers, 175 Coastal Sanitation Guards, 60 Community Policing Assistants, 60 Environmental Protection Health Assistants, 40 Youth In Prison Officers, 30 Youth In Fire Assistants and seven Health Technical Assistants.

Addressing the graduates, Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive, said they would complement the efforts of the various institutions such as the Ghana Police Service, Environmental Protection Agency, Ghana National Fire Service, Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Ghana Health Service, and the Ghana Prison Service.

He said Government is committed to bring the youth on board to increase employment and advised them to justify their inclusion to build a better future for themselves.

He reminded the graduates that, 'To whom much is given much is expected', adding that, for whatever duties they have been selected their role is important for the development of Accra.

Mr Ephraim Nii Tan Sackey, Accra Metropolitan Director of the YEA, urged the graduates to discharge their duties dispassionately as required of them.

He said the YEA programme is in line with Government policy on youth development and to acquire employable skills.

He gave the assurance to expand the various modules in the coming years.

He advised the graduates to be abreast of issues as they assume positions in various institutions.

'The knowledge you have acquired is to add value to yourselves that is the only way to transform Ghana and society,' he said.

Mr Sackey thanked the AMA for the support to the YEA programme for the youth to get self-employable skills.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Paul Ayitey, Deputy Greater Accra Regional Commander, addressing the graduates, said current strategic environment, security now a collective responsibility of everyone and must embrace by all.

He urged the graduates to be disciplined, work hard and exhibit good conduct in the discharge of their duties.

He assured them of the Police administrations' support and advised them to eschew all forms of indiscipline.
