Former Minister and Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, KT Hammond, has sent a strong message to person's he said derailed the campaign of the NPP and Dr. Bawumia's campaign in the 2024 Elections with their utterances and seeming support for the then opposition NDC.
The NPP's internal inquest into why the party lost the 2024 election, revealed that one of the main reasons the party lost was person's within the NPP who openly attacked the NPP and its Flagbearer, whose words were used by the then opposition NDC as campaign weapons against the NPP.
Addressing NPP delegates and supporters during the visit of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in Adansi Asokwa on Wednesday, KT Hammond said such people, due to their selfish desire to lead the NPP, deliberately sabotaged Dr. Bawumia and the NPP by derailing his campaign with their utterances, and then turned around to blame him because want to lead.
"While Dr. Bawumia and all us were going round to campaign to explain, these people were also derailing the campaign because of their selfish desire," he said.
"You then turn around and blame Dr. Bawumia for the defeat and you say a Muslim cannot be President. What madness! What kind of madness is this?"
The veteran NPP member, who represented the people of Adansi Asokwa in Parliament for 24 years, used said leadership is all about competence and what one brings on board, not about one's religious background.
"When I represented the people of Adansi Asokwa as their MP for 24 years, was I not a. Muslim? It's not about your religion. It's about your competence and what you bring on board and Dr. Bawumia has proven that he has what it takes to lead the NPP and Ghana."
KT Hammond also slammed NPP Flagbearer aspirants who have made it a habit to boast about their riches, describing them as ''latter-day braggarts" who have have made money off the NPP in government, from the toil of those who sacrificed to build the party in the 90s.
