The Minister for Inner-City and Zongo Development (MICZD), Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid has launched the Zongo Entrepreneurship Training Programme (ZET) in the New Juaben South Zongo Community in Koforidua.

The ZET Boot Camp Project which is an intensive four-week youth entrepreneurship training programme is aimed at providing entrepreneurship skills acquisition, start-up incubation support and grassroots sustainable development capacities for 2,100 participants from selected Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the Eastern Region.

A minimum of 300 trainees between the ages of 15 to 35 years will be selected from each Zongo Community from New Juaben North, New Juaben South, Akwapim North, Lower Manya Krobo, West Akim, Denkyembour, Abuakwa North, among others to engage in the programme.

Speaking at the Induction ceremony for the trainees, the Minister lauded the FAPIMPA FOUNDATION for collaborating with the Ministry and underscored his ‘’total commitment’’ to the successful implementation of the project.

“The mandate of the ministry includes Skills Training, Social and Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship development for Zongo Youth and that this initiative with FAPIMPA FOUNDATION conforms to the goals and objectives of government in the development and economic empowerment of Zongo communities,” he said.
He reminded the inductees of Allah’s endowment of talents, skills and ability to mankind and the need for the youth of Zongo to fully utilize such capabilities through constant education, training and self-development.

The minister also urged them to embrace and actively participate in the initiatives of the MICZD and its Development Partners in the successful implementation of the ‘’historic’’ programmes and projects being implemented in the Zongos.

Dr. Abdul-Hamid explained that development is an on-going process and that no Zongo will be excluded from the numerous programmes, projects and initiatives designed purposefully for the over 5million inhabitants of the over 1,080 Zongos nation-wide.
