Black Starlets manager Laryea Kingston is optimistic that his team will not fall into complacency as they prepare to face Benin on Tuesday in the 2024 WAFU Zone B Under-17 Championship.

Following their emphatic 5-1 victory over Ivory Coast in their opening game, the Black Starlets will take on their Beninois counterparts at the University of Ghana Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The resounding win over Ivory Coast has raised concerns about how Ghana will approach the game against a Benin side that lost narrowly to Ivory Coast.

However, Kingston is convinced his players will not be complacent.

"Complacency? Oh no! It’s not in our dictionary,” Kingston responded when asked about the potential for overconfidence.

“We have our style and that is what we hope to show. We aim to dominate the game in terms of possession and win, and that’s what we will be doing on Tuesday."

Kingston emphasized that the team has moved on from their previous victory and is fully focused on the upcoming match.

“As for the Ivory Coast game, it’s past and gone and we’ve forgotten about it. The most important game for us now is Benin, and we will approach it with all the necessary seriousness,” he added after the team’s final training session on Monday.

The Black Starlets hope to exhibit their distinctive 'Agoro Football' style against Benin to maintain their top spot in the group and secure a place in the semi-finals.
