2020 Polls: Ken Agyapong blames NPP executives for the loss of several seats in parliament
12th December 2020
Member of Parliament(MP) for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong has asked the National Executive of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) to take lessons from the party’s loss of several seats in Parliament.
According to him, it s high time they avoid the suppression and interference in the parliamentary primaries and allow the people choose who they want to lead them.
Kennedy Agyapong was speaking on Accra-based Net2TV monitored by MyNewsGh.com when he made this known.
Mr. Agyapong who is known to be an outspoken person did not mince words when he chided especially Regional and Constituency Chairmen who played contributory roles at ensuring that some candidates were suppressed and prevented from contesting.
“Going forward, when it’s time for the Parliamentary primaries the people who have the support of the masses should be given the opportunity to contest. Let them vote for their own parliamentary candidate, the suppression was too much. It got to a point that party Chairmen were the ones choosing who should be a Parliamentarian. A whole lot of things went bad.”
To him, the people of Ghana came out to vote massively for the President because he and his Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has worked marvelously and bettered the fortunes of the Ghanaian people.
The Assin Central Member of Parliament complained bitterly about how the political party, Ministers and Parliamentarians snubbed his media house but run to them during the electioneering period when they realized they were having problems.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has given the NDC 136 seats whiles the NPP has 137 with one seat belonging to an Independent candidate.
