2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Chad coach Raoul Savoy tips Ghana to make qualification
7th September 2025
Chad head coach Raoul Savoy is backing Ghana to book their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the Black Stars are in a strong position despite their recent slip in N’Djamena.
Ghana currently sit atop Group I with 16 points from seven matches, holding the advantage with three fixtures left to play.
The four-time African champions were held to a 1-1 draw in their Matchday 7 clash against Chad after Celestine Ecau struck late to cancel out Jordan Ayew’s opener.
Speaking to GhanaSportsPage.com, Savoy said it would be shocking if Ghana failed to qualify given their standing in the group.
“It will be a big failure if Ghana fails to qualify because they are now in a good position, and it will be a mess if they fail to qualify from this group because I think the other teams are not ready for this World Cup,” he said.
“I tip Ghana to qualify over other teams; if not, it will be a professional failure.”
The Black Stars next face Mali in a crucial Matchday 8 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
A win would strengthen Ghana’s grip at the top of the group as they aim to seal early qualification for the tournament in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
