2026 World Cup: Black Stars must remain humble ahead of September qualifiers - Henry Asante Twum
29th August 2025
Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has called on the Black Stars to remain humble as they prepare to resume their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign next month.
The senior national team is currently top of Group I with 15 points from six matches, following back-to-back victories against Chad and Madagascar in March. With four games remaining, Ghana are well-placed to secure a spot at the Mundial in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Asante Twum stressed the importance of maintaining humility and focus despite the strong position.
“The spirit of the nation is behind the Black Stars, but we will have to stay humble as we strive to secure the maximum points needed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup,” he said.
The Black Stars will open their September fixtures with an away trip to Chad on Thursday, September 4, at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno, before returning home to face Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 8.
The team is expected to assemble in Accra on Monday, September 1, to begin preparations for the crucial double-header.
