Abronye DC makes contact with new IGP

Bono regional chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly called Abronye DC, has met with the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh to congratulate him on his appointment.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Monday, July 22, 2019, appointed Mr. Oppong-Boanuh to act as the IGP until a substantive appointment is made in accordance with the Constitution.

In a statement signed by Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin, the President instructed the former IGP, Mr. David Asante-Apeatu, to proceed on leave, with immediate effect, pending his retirement from the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday, 14th August 2019.

The President in the statement thanked Mr. Apeatu for his many years of service to the country and wished him well in his retirement.

However, since his new role, several people, from all walks of life, have been calling in to congratulate Mr. Oppong-Boanuh.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, a picture of Abronye DC and the new police chief flooded the online space. What the two discussed in their engagement is not immediately known but it is believed the maverick politician met with Mr. Boanuh to congratulate him.
