Dr. Randy Abbey, an Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has announced that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted approval for the Accra Sports Stadium to host Ghana's upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifier against Sudan on October 11, 2024.

Previously, Ghana had been using the Baba Yara Stadium for its home games, but following crowd disturbances during a match against Angola in Kumasi, CAF revoked its license, necessitating a venue change.

This led to urgent renovations at the Accra Sports Stadium to meet CAF's requirements.

Dr. Abbey emphasized the need for ongoing improvements, stating that while the approval is a relief for the Black Stars, it is currently limited to the Sudan match.

"CAF must be satisfied before we are allowed to play subsequent games," he explained.

He noted that there are still specific requirements to fulfill before the match, but expressed optimism about the team's ability to play at home in Ghana.

With the Black Stars looking to secure a crucial victory in the qualifier, Dr. Abbey encouraged the team to focus on their performance and aim for success on October 11.
