The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has dissolved the management committee of the Black Stars with immediate effect, following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana endured a poor campaign in the qualifiers, managing only three draws and three losses across six matches.

This disappointing performance left the Black Stars at the bottom of Group F, marking the first time in 20 years the team has failed to qualify for Africa’s premier football tournament.

The last such occurrence was in 2004.

In a statement issued after a crucial meeting, the GFA expressed gratitude to the outgoing committee members for their contributions while announcing their decision to make way for a new structure.

“The immediate dissolution of the Management Committee of the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

In doing so, we sincerely thank the members of the Committee for their service to Ghana Football over the years,” the statement read.

The GFA is expected to appoint a new management team to guide the national side in upcoming fixtures, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars will resume their campaign in March 2025, aiming to rebuild and refocus on the road to the global stage.
