Accra Sports Stadium is currently to only approved venue and is set to host Black Stars 2026 World Cup qualifiers- Henry Asante Twum
5th August 2025
The Accra Sports Stadium has been confirmed as the only approved venue to host the Black Stars’ home matches, according to Henry Asante Twum, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
This development follows CAF and FIFA sanctions on the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, which was previously used for Black Stars fixtures but has now been deemed unfit to host international games.
Speaking to 3Sports, Asante Twum stated, “At the moment, the only approved venue for Black Stars matches is the Accra Sports Stadium. That will host Black Stars games in September and October.”
Ghana will play Mali and Comoros at home in those crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, as the team seeks a return to the global stage for the fifth time.
The Black Stars previously played at the Accra Sports Stadium in March 2025, securing a commanding victory over Chad on Matchday 5 of the qualifiers.
After six matches, Ghana currently sits attop of Group I with 15 points, holding a three-point lead over second-placed Comoros.
