Andre Ayew joins Dutch top tier side NAC Breda till the end of the season
31st December 2025
Black Stars legend Andre Ayew has signed for Dutch Eredivisie side NAC Breda in the winter transfer window, committing to the club for the remainder of the 2025/26 season with an option to sign for a further year.
Career Context
Ayew, 36, had been without a club during the first half of the campaign. He brings vast experience, having made 120 appearances for Ghana’s Black Stars, alongside spells at Olympique Marseille, Swansea City, Al Saad, West Ham United and Fenerbahçe. His arrival is seen as a major boost for NAC Breda, who are battling to stay in the Eredivisie.
Ayew’s Motivation
On joining Breda:
“I’m someone who really enjoys challenges, both personally and as part of a team. I find that here at NAC. I want to do everything I can to help the club and my teammates. We’re in a situation where staying in the Eredivisie is the only thing that matters. The mental aspect is perhaps the most important thing in this situation. Together with our supporters, we must fight this battle head-on in the second half of the season.”
Club’s Perspective
NAC Technical Director Peter Maas praised Ayew’s professionalism:
“Andre is eager to help NAC in their fight for survival. That’s become very clear from our conversations. He’s a true sportsman who takes good care of himself. We believe that with his experience and specific qualities, he can be of value to NAC right now.”
Ghanaian Connection
Ayew becomes the third Ghanaian at NAC Breda, joining Dennis Odoi and Kamal Sowah. His signing strengthens the club’s African contingent and adds leadership to a squad in need of resilience.
Ayew’s move is both a personal challenge and a symbolic continuation of his storied career, as he looks to inspire NAC Breda in their fight for Eredivisie survival.
