Ghanaian football captain Andre Ayew has officially rejoined Ligue 1 side Le Havre AC after a brief period as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with the French club last season.

The 34-year-old forward, who has had an illustrious career playing for top clubs including Olympique de Marseille, Swansea City, West Ham United, and Nottingham Forest, had a short but impactful spell with Le Havre during the 2023/24 season.

In his 19 Ligue 1 appearances, Ayew netted five goals, contributing significantly to the team’s effort to retain their top-flight status.

Despite his solid performances, Le Havre initially opted not to renew his contract.

However, with Le Havre struggling in the current season, having scored just seven goals thus far, the club has turned to Ayew to boost their attacking options.

The veteran forward had openly expressed his desire to remain at the club, and Le Havre has now offered him a new deal, securing his services until the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Ayew’s return is expected to be instrumental as Le Havre seeks to resolve their goal-scoring issues.

The experienced Ghanaian forward will aim to deliver strong performances to help the team climb up the Ligue 1 standings.

In addition to his club responsibilities, Ayew's form at Le Havre could reignite discussions about his future with the Ghana national team, the Black Stars.

His absence from recent international call-ups has fueled speculation, but consistent displays at the club level could pave the way for a potential recall ahead of key international fixtures.
