Ghanaian international Sherifatu Sumaila has signed a two-year contract with Norwegian club FK Haugesund, following a successful trial with the Toppserie side.
The 29-year-old forward, known for her speed, technical ability, and goal-scoring prowess, arrives in Norway after spells in Spain, Israel, Sweden, the USA, and most recently Saudi Arabia with Al Shabab. She is expected to bring experience and attacking flair to Haugesund as they prepare for the new season.
“My main strength is probably my speed and that I am a technically good player who is good with the ball. In addition, I have always scored a lot of goals and provided many assists, and now I want to contribute to us having a good season here in Haugesund,” Sumaila said. “I am a little far from my absolute top form, but I hope to soon be back at the level I usually am.”
Haugesund Sports Director Rune Lothe welcomed the signing, describing Sumaila as a “well-traveled player” who can provide more attacking options. “She made a good impression in the trial game earlier this month and gives us even more offensive cards to pull out of our sleeves. We believe we will be able to get the best out of her when facing the Norwegian Toppserie,” he said.
Sumaila’s move adds another chapter to a globe-trotting career, as she looks to make an immediate impact in Norway while continuing to build on her reputation as one of Ghana’s most accomplished female footballers.
