Black Stars to depart for Libya on Sunday for crucial AFCON Qualifier against Sudan
12th October 2024
Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, will head to Libya on Sunday as they prepare for the decisive second leg of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan.
This encounter follows the first-leg stalemate, where the Black Stars were held to a 0-0 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday despite dominating much of the game.
The result leaves Ghana third in Group F with just two points, putting significant pressure on head coach Otto Addo and his squad to secure their first win of the campaign.
The upcoming match against Sudan is crucial for the Black Stars' chances of qualifying for next year's AFCON, set to take place in Morocco.
Before leaving Ghana, the team will conduct their final training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 12.
Upon their arrival in Libya, the squad will hold their mandatory pre-match training at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday.
The second leg against Sudan is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, with kickoff set for 13:00 GMT.
Otto Addo's team will need to secure a victory to improve their standing in the group and keep their AFCON hopes alive.
