Fenerbahçe have officially parted company with head coach José Mourinho after the club failed to secure qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

Mourinho, 62, only joined the Istanbul giants in the summer of 2024, tasked with restoring their European pedigree and domestic dominance. However, falling short of a place in Europe’s premier club competition has proven decisive in the club’s decision to move in a new direction.

This marks another abrupt ending in Mourinho’s managerial journey, following previous high-profile spells at Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and AS Roma.

In a statement, Fenerbahce said Mourinho had "parted ways" with the club, before thanking the 62-year-old for his efforts.

"Our professional football first-team's technical director, Jose Mourinho, who has been carrying out his duties starting from the 2024-2025 season, has parted ways with us," the statement read.

"We thank him for his efforts for our team until today and wish him success in his future career."

Fenerbahçe are expected to announce his successor in the coming days
