Head coach of Gor Mahia, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, has urged Otto Addo to consider in-form midfielder Enoch Morison for a place in the Ghana national football team.

‎Morison, a former Asante Kotoko player, has been in outstanding form in the Kenyan Premier League, registering an impressive 15 Man-of-the-Match awards in just 25 appearances this season.

His performances have been instrumental in lifting Gor Mahia to the top of the league table, where they currently sit on 56 points, seven clear of their nearest challengers.

Despite his strong displays, the 26-year-old was not included in Ghana’s current squad preparing for international friendlies against the Austria national football team and the Germany national football team.

Speaking to Graphic Sports, Akonnor acknowledged that while the timing may not yet be perfect, Morison’s performances deserve attention.

“He’s not been in the picture for a long time, probably because of his performances, and now he’s doing very well, so maybe now they can start to look at him in that aspect,” he said.

“Yes, he’s doing very well, so now is the time to start looking at him. In the past, he wasn’t in that category, so it’s no surprise he wasn’t invited,” he added.

With Ghana boasting strong midfield options, breaking into the squad remains a challenge. However, Morison’s current form has placed him firmly on the radar as the Black Stars continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

As competition for places intensifies, the coming months could prove decisive for players seeking to make a late push for inclusion.
