Former Black Stars coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor remains confident that Ghana can still qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), despite their challenging start to the qualification campaign.

Ghana has struggled in Group F, securing only two points from their first three games, with two draws against Niger and Sudan and a loss to Angola.

Currently in third place, the Black Stars need to win all three of their remaining fixtures to boost their chances of making it to the tournament.

Speaking to Joy Sports, Akonnor expressed his belief in the team's ability to turn things around. “I can't see Ghana missing out on AFCON.

They have the talent to do it, and it’s achievable,” he stated.

He stressed the importance of winning the upcoming games, saying, “We have no choice but to win. If we could convincingly beat a team like Mali, then beating Sudan should be within our reach.

Angola, compared to Mali, is not a huge challenge. All we need is to focus and win.”

The Black Stars will look to secure their first victory in the qualifiers when they face Sudan in the crucial second-leg match on October 15 in Libya. A win would be vital in keeping their AFCON hopes alive.
