CAFCL: JS Kabylie were quicker than Gold Stars- Midfielder Adjetey
25th September 2025
Bibiani GoldStars FC midfielder Isaac Adjei Adjetey has offered a candid assessment of his team’s 2–0 defeat to JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round, pointing to tactical disruption and a lack of rhythm among key players as decisive factors.
The Ghana Premier League champions, fresh off a dominant domestic campaign, struggled to impose themselves at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 20, falling to the two-time African champions in front of a subdued home crowd.
“Our key players who function on the field of play could not get their rhythm, so we had a little problem in scoring goals,” Adjetey told the media after the match.
Adjetey also highlighted the Algerian side’s pace and pressing intensity, which disrupted GoldStars’ tactical setup and limited their ability to build play.
“They were very quick. If you scan the pitch, you don’t find them closer to you, but within seconds, they close you down. Their transition was also quick during the game.”
GoldStars now face a daunting task in the return leg at the Hocine Aït Ahmed Stadium in Tizi Ouzou on Sunday, September 28, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 GMT. The Miners must overturn the two-goal deficit to progress to the second preliminary round, where they would meet either East End Lions (Sierra Leone) or US Monastir (Tunisia).
