Dzorwulu robbery
The Criminal Investigation Department has arrested two men in connection with a robbery at a jewellery shop near Nyaho Clinic in Dzorwulu, Accra.
The suspects, Abubakar Mamoud and Mahmoud Abdul Aziz, also known as Justin Martin, are currently in police custody and are expected to appear before court on March 26, 2026.
In a statement issued on March 25 and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, the CID said the arrests were made on February 24, 2026, at Anyaa in the Greater Accra Region, following months of intelligence-led investigations by a team from the CID Headquarters.
The robbery incident dates back to September 11, 2025, when two armed men riding a motorbike reportedly attacked the shop. The assailants assaulted a shop attendant, smashed the glass entrance, and fled with assorted jewellery.
According to the police, a search conducted at the suspects’ residences led to the recovery of several items believed to have been used in the operation.
These include a hammer, black face mask, toy pistol, gold detector, gold weighing scale, diamond detector, backpack, hand gloves, helmet, and two motorbikes.
During interrogation, the suspects are said to have admitted involvement in the crime and identified an individual known as Eddy, based in Oyarifa, as the person who received the stolen items.
Police say efforts are ongoing to track down the said accomplice as investigations continue.
