Coach Omagbemi cautious of Ghana, Cameroon at 2016 AWCON

Ahead of the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations Super Falcons coach Florence Omagbemi has identified Ghana and host Cameroon as threats to Nigeria’s quest to defend their title.

Defending champions Nigeria are heading into the tournament as favourites to win their ninth AWCON titles.

Ahead of Super Falcons’ opener against Mali on Sunday, November 20, the Super Falcons coach has warned that Ghana and host Cameroon will be threats.

"In my playing days, it was never easy games against the Ghanaians though we usually had the upper hands," the former Super Falcons star who the AWCON title as captain in 1998, 2000 and 2002 told CAF official website.

"Nigeria and Ghana started women’s football at the same time and they have ideas and talents about the women’s game.

“So, the Black Queens and even the Cameroonians would naturally want to pose a challenge, but we are going to take our matches one at a time because there are no smaller teams again in football.

"We are not under any pressure; we just want to retain our trophy as the defending champions."

Nigeria have been placed in Group B with Ghana, Mali and Kenya for the tournament which holds in, Cameroon.
