Craig Levein excited about signing Ghanaian teen Aaron Essel for St. Johnstone

Craig Levein, the manager of Scottish Premiership club St Johnstone, has expressed his delight with the acquisition of versatile Ghanaian footballer Aaron Essel.
The 18-year-old joins the Saints on a three-year contract after impressing during a trial period, particularly shining in a friendly against Arbroath during pre-season.
Levein is confident that Essel will be a valuable addition to the team. “Aaron is a young lad with potential, and he has many of the required skillsets to be a good player.
He trained with us for about 10 days towards the end of last season and did really well,” Levein stated.
“As we saw on Saturday against Arbroath, he can play in center midfield. But he can also play full-back and at center-back. We will see what time brings, but he has impressed with his all-round ability.”
Essel, who joins from Ghanaian top-flight side Bechem United, is equally excited about the move.
“I am so happy to sign here. It is a great step for me in my career and to develop,” said Essel after completing his move.
“I am very proud, and getting the chance to be here is a blessing. I want to show my qualities on the field—my tackles, my passing. I just want to develop to become a key player for the club.”
He also praised the welcoming environment at St Johnstone. “The staff, players, and manager have been amazing. The people here have been so amazing with welcoming me. I love it, and I am looking to do my best.”
Essel’s versatility and potential make him an exciting prospect for St Johnstone as they prepare for the upcoming season.
