Customs Officer found dead in Katsina hotel after taking 3 women to a hotel
16th October 2025
A senior officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), identified as Assistant Superintendent of Customs (ASC) Lawal Tukur, was discovered dead in a hotel room in Katsina metropolis under mysterious circumstances.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Murjani Hotel, where the officer had checked in the previous day.
According to hotel staff, Tukur’s lifeless body was found at around 8:30 a.m., prompting immediate notification of the police.
Preliminary reports indicate that three women — identified as Khadija Ali (34), Aisha Lawal (30), and Hafsat Yusuf (22) — were with the deceased at the hotel before his death.
It is believed that Khadija and Aisha spent the night with him, while Hafsat joined them later.
Investigators reportedly recovered empty sachets of unidentified substances from a wastebasket in the room, raising suspicions of possible substance use or poisoning.
Tukur’s body was taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Katsina, where he was confirmed dead and subsequently deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
Authorities from the Nigeria Customs Service have been notified, while police say a full investigation is underway to determine the cause of death and whether the three women played any role in the incident.
Police sources say the findings of the autopsy report will be key to establishing what transpired before the officer’s death.
