Ebusua Dwarfs’ operations director praises GFA’s bus donation amid criticism

Dad Simpson, Operations Director of Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs, has defended the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) bus donation to Division One League clubs, describing it as a "blessing in disguise."

His remarks come amidst criticism from some clubs over the condition of the buses.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Simpson emphasized the financial and logistical benefits the bus has provided to Dwarfs, a club operating on limited resources. He revealed that the team had no major issues with their bus and highlighted its economic efficiency.

“We are privileged to have this bus. We drove it from Accra to Cape Coast without any problems. The only minor issue is the need for more middle space to accommodate passengers, but overall, the bus is highly economical,” Simpson explained.

He expressed surprise at the dissatisfaction voiced by other clubs, stating that the gesture was a substantial aid for struggling teams.

“I’m surprised to hear some clubs complain. For Dwarfs, this bus is a blessing. It’s helping us save money, which is critical for clubs with limited funds,” he added.

Simpson further detailed the cost savings achieved, noting the reduction in fuel expenses.

“We spent GHC 1,000 on fuel to travel from Accra to Cape Coast and still had GHC 500 worth of fuel remaining. With our old bus, the same trip would have cost us GHC 2,000. It may not be brand new, but as the saying goes, a beggar has no choice. Receiving this for free is a significant help.”

Cape Coast Dwarfs were among nine clubs awarded buses for finishing in the top three of Zone Two in the 2023/24 Access Bank Division One League. Despite the criticism from some quarters, Simpson reiterated that the donation has been a game-changer for the club’s operations, enabling them to cut costs and improve efficiency.
