Exciting weekend of Ghana Premier League action as Medeama and Hearts of Oak headline matchday 9

The Ghana Premier League promises an action-packed weekend, kicking off with two highly anticipated Friday matches.

Defending champions FC Samartex 1996 will face Accra Lions at the University of Ghana Stadium, while Medeama SC hosts Hearts of Oak at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa for what is expected to be a thrilling showdown.

Medeama will aim to bounce back after squandering a two-goal lead in their 2-2 draw with Aduana FC, while Hearts will look to improve following their recent 1-0 home loss to Gold Stars FC. Kickoff for the Tarkwa match is set for 6 pm GMT.

Sunday’s fixtures bring six matches, with Asante Kotoko SC taking on Heart of Lions at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

Kotoko, fresh from a 1-1 draw with Basake Holy Stars, will be keen to secure a home win against Lions, who enter the match with momentum after defeating Nsoatreman FC 1-0.

Vision FC will look to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to Aduana FC as they host Abrankese-based opponents at the Nii Adjei Akraku II Sports Complex.

In the Bono derby, Nsoatreman FC will host Bechem United, while Berekum Chelsea faces off against newcomers Basake Holy Stars.

Karela United FC will return to the Tamale Sports Stadium to face Nations FC after their recent draw with Bechem United, while league leaders Gold Stars FC aim to continue their unbeaten streak and strengthen their top-of-the-table standing as they host Dreams FC.

Gold Stars, sitting on 18 points after eight games, have had an impressive season and will look to keep their winning momentum against a struggling Dreams side.

The weekend wraps up on Monday, November 4, as Legon Cities FC takes on Young Apostles FC at the University of Ghana Stadium, bringing Matchday 9 to an exciting close.
