Ghana midfielder, Salis Abdul Samed has returned to France with OGC Nice ahead of next season’s Ligue 1 campaign.

Samed is not new to French football having previously starred for Clermont Foot and RC Lens before going on loan at Sunderland last season.

OGC Nice secured the signing of the Black Stars midfielder for €2.5 million contract that will keep him at the Allianz Riviera until June 2028. The 25-year-old was a key figure for Ghana at the 2022 World Cup where he started every game and the move will help return to Otto Addo’s squad.

Samed, who graduated from JMG football academy in Ivory Coast expressed his joy over the move back to France.

“I’m delighted to be joining Le Gym, an ambitious, European club,” he said, eager to reconnect with his former coach.

“I’m also delighted to be back with the coach. I’m going to give my all to help the team and make the fans proud.”

Samed will reunite with his former coach at Lens, Franck Haise. Despite his loan move to Sunderland was largely marred by injuries, he was able to overcome the predicaments and help Sunderland regain the stance in top-flight football as he helped the make a glorious return to the English Premier League after eight years of absence.

Salis has been capped 22 times for the Ghana national team, the Black Stars since making his debut in November 2022 in a friendly preparatory game against Switzerland which Ghana won 2-0- a game he  played full throttle under coach Otto Addo.
