Galatasaray rejects Spartak Moscow's bid for Ghanaian left-back Derrick Kohn
16th August 2024
Galatasaray has confirmed that Russian club FC Spartak Moscow has expressed interest in acquiring Ghanaian left-back Derrick Kohn.
Despite the approach, the Turkish giants turned down the offer, as it did not meet Kohn’s valuation of €2.5 million per season.
Reports from Turkish media revealed that Galatasaray received the bid but ultimately rejected it.
The club's sporting director, Cenk Ergün, acknowledged the offer and confirmed that Kohn was not interested in pursuing the opportunity.
"There was a transfer request for Kohn, and we received an official offer. However, the player chose not to consider it.
There are no new developments at the moment. We have one month left in the transfer window, and while there could be further offers or changes, there is no current process," Ergün stated in an interview with Sporx.
Spartak Moscow is reportedly preparing a revised bid to secure Kohn's services before the transfer window closes.
However, they may need to meet Galatasaray's €6 million valuation of the player to finalize the deal.
Derrick Kohn, whose contract with Galatasaray runs until June 2026, has caught the attention of several clubs due to his impressive performances.
Though he has represented Germany at the U19 level, Kohn is still eligible to play for Ghana at the international level, owing to his Ghanaian heritage.
