Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has expressed confidence that the Black Stars can still secure a win against Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, despite their challenging start to the campaign.

The Black Stars will face the Palancras Negras in Luanda on Friday, November 18, at the Estádio 11 de Novembro for their Matchday 5 fixture.

Speaking in an interview ahead of the game, Asante Twum emphasized that despite Ghana’s difficult position in the qualifiers, the team is capable of causing an upset in Angola, just as they were beaten 1-0 by Angola in their opening match at Baba Yara Stadium.

“The Black Stars can also go to Angola and beat them just like how they came here to beat us,” Asante Twum told Asempa FM.

"It is possible, but at the end of the day, we also know it is not entirely in our hands, but we will continue to fight until the final game."

Ghana is currently in third place in Group F with only two points from four matches.

To qualify, the Black Stars must win their remaining games and hope Sudan, who have seven points, lose their final two matches against Niger and Angola.

After facing Angola, Ghana will return home to play their final qualifier against Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18.

The Black Stars opened camp on Monday and held their first training session with only eight players.

The team is set to complete their preparations today before flying to Luanda on Wednesday.
