Ghana marks 41st National Farmers’ Day today
5th December 2025
Ghana today marks the 2025 Farmers’ Day, celebrating farmers and fishers whose work continues to sustain the nation’s food security and rural economy.
The 41st edition of the celebration began on Monday, December 1, with the opening of the 2025 National Agricultural Fair at the Ho Sports Stadium. The fair drew thousands of farmers, agripreneurs, policymakers, investors, and exhibitors from across the country.
Held under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” the week-long event showcases agricultural innovation, emerging technologies, and strategic partnerships geared toward strengthening the country’s food systems and boosting resilience in the sector.
During today’s ceremony, President John Dramani Mahama is expected to honour national best farmers across various crop categories, as well as outstanding performers in other key areas of agriculture. Thousands of Ghanaians are anticipated to join activities at the national, regional, and district levels, where farmers will be recognised for excellence in productivity, innovation, and community development.
Instituted in 1985, Farmers’ Day remains a major national platform for celebrating the vital contributions farmers and fishers make to Ghana’s growth and development.
