Ghana’s U20 men's team, the Black Satellites, secured a spot in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U20 Championship after a 1-1 draw against hosts Togo on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

Forward Jerry Afriyie opened the scoring in the first half with his third goal of the tournament, but Togo’s Bourgeous Bouraima equalized in the second half to level the match.

Despite the draw, Ghana finished at the top of Group A, having recorded one win and two draws in the group stage.

Coach Desmond Ofei's team will now face the second-placed team from Group B in the semi-finals, which will be held at the Stade Municipal in Togo on Sunday, October 27, 2024.

The Black Satellites await the conclusion of Group B matches on Thursday, October 24, with Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Nigeria all in the race to qualify for the last four.

The WAFU B U20 Championship also doubles as a qualification tournament for the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.

Only the two finalists will secure spots in the continental competition, which will serve as the African qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, where the top four teams will qualify.
