Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph Anang rejoins St Patrick's Athletic after leaving West Ham

Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph Anang has rejoined St Patrick's Athletic on a two-and-a-half-year contract following the expiration of his tenure with English Premier League side West Ham United.
This move marks a return to familiar territory for Anang, who had a successful loan spell with the Irish club in 2022.
Anang's previous stint at St Patrick's Athletic saw him gain significant first-team experience, which he credits as some of his best football to date.
Reflecting on his return, Anang expressed his excitement, saying, "It's very good to be back at the club.
St Pat's is where I played most of my senior games so far, and I feel I played my best football during my loan in 2022. I really enjoyed my time here, so I'm very excited."
The Ghanaian-born England youth international spent seven years at West Ham United but found first-team opportunities limited.
Despite this, he was part of the squad that won the UEFA Conference League in the 2022/23 season. However, seeking more consistent playing time, Anang decided to make a permanent move to St Patrick's Athletic.
"The move came about very naturally. I always kept in touch with Pat Jennings, the goalkeeping coach, after I left.
As soon as he heard I was available, he reached out, and we had a conversation with Ger O'Brien and my agents about what a move back here could mean for me," Anang added.
Anang's return to St Patrick's Athletic ahead of the 2024/25 season is seen as a significant boost for the club, bringing with him experience from both the Premier League and European competition.
