Ghanaian midfielder Simon Zibo has made a move to Maltese top-flight club Sliema Wanderers, signing a two-year contract after departing rivals Birkirkara FC.

The 26-year-old, formerly with Liberty Professionals and Ghana's U23 team, has already spent two seasons in the Maltese Premier League, making him a seasoned addition to Sliema Wanderers' roster as they prepare for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign.

Sliema Wanderers confirmed Zibo's signing via their official social media channels, welcoming him warmly:

"Simon Zibo joins the BLUES! The 26-year-old defensive midfielder joins the Blues on a permanent basis, after spending the past 2 seasons already playing in the Maltese Premier League, with Birkirkara FC. Welcome to Sliema, Simon!!"

The club's decision to bring in Zibo ahead of the preseason reflects their ambition as they gear up for European football qualifiers next month.

Sliema Wanderers are set to face the winner between KF Shkendija and FC Noah in the second round of qualifiers for the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Zibo's experience and defensive prowess will be crucial for Sliema Wanderers as they aim to make an impact both domestically and on the European stage in the upcoming season.

His arrival adds depth to their midfield and underscores their aspirations for success in the Maltese league and beyond.
