Ghanaian youngster Daniel Adu-Adjei has completed a permanent move to Croatian top-flight side HNK Rijeka, signing a four-year contract from English Premier League club AFC Bournemouth.
The 19-year-old striker makes the switch in pursuit of regular first-team opportunities, having emerged as one of Bournemouth’s most promising academy prospects in recent years.
Adu-Adjei was in sensational form for the Cherries’ Development Squad last season, netting 25 goals in just 16 appearances during the 2024/25 campaign. His prolific strike rate earned him involvement with the senior team in pre-season, where he caught the eye with a well-taken goal against Everton in the Premier League Summer Series.
However, with playing time in the Bournemouth first team expected to be limited, the teenager has chosen to continue his development abroad.
At Rijeka, one of Croatia’s most ambitious clubs, Adu-Adjei will have the platform to gain valuable top-flight experience while showcasing his potential. The Croatian HNL has long been regarded as a springboard for young talents seeking moves to Europe’s elite leagues, making this a strategically smart step for the forward’s career.
The move has also attracted interest back home in Ghana, where Adu-Adjei is tipped as a future Black Stars striker. Known for his pace, composure, and finishing ability, he will now look to make his mark in the Croatian league and accelerate his rise on the international stage.
