Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has thrown his full support behind goalkeeper Benjamin Asare ahead of Ghana’s high-profile international friendlies against Austria and Germany.

‎The Black Stars are set to face Austria in Vienna before taking on four-time world champions Germany in Stuttgart, in what are seen as key tests ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

‎Dramani dismissed any doubts about Asare’s readiness to face elite European opposition, insisting the shot-stopper has already proven himself on the international stage. He pointed to the goalkeeper’s performances during the final phase of Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers, where he played a decisive role in important victories over Comoros and Mali.

‎“He's the number one for Ghana,” Dramani said. “If you check Ghana's record in the last six games, he has been our first choice because he finished the qualifiers in very important matches. That tells you everything about his quality.”

The experienced coach also expressed confidence in Asare’s mentality and leadership, while stressing the importance of maintaining full fitness ahead of the demanding fixtures. “We just pray for his fitness level to improve and for him to be mentally ready. I have no doubt in his abilities and his leadership qualities,” he added.

Ghana face Austria later today, Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna, before travelling to Stuttgart to play Germany on Monday, March 30.

‎The matches are expected to provide a stern test for the Black Stars, with Asare likely to play a key role as Ghana fine-tune preparations for the global tournament.
