The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has deployed hundreds of police personnel to the Ashanti Region for a special classified security operation aimed at strengthening public safety and maintaining law and order.
The large-scale deployment is part of the Ghana Police Service’s broader strategy to bolster security visibility and reinforce peace and stability across key areas in the region.
Speaking on behalf of the IGP, COP Dr. Sayibu Pabi Gariba, Director-General, Technical, said the operation will be conducted in collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces to ensure maximum operational effectiveness.
“We are going to undertake a special operation in the region. The locations will be disclosed as we go. All that the IGP wants you to do is to be professional, firm, robust, and ensure you execute your task as briefed. Move in groups—there shouldn’t be any isolation,” he instructed.
Dr. Gariba cautioned officers to maintain strict confidentiality, warning against the unauthorised sharing of operational details.
“This operation is very classified, so no personnel is supposed to be seen taking videos, pictures, or sending WhatsApp messages about what is going on. No one is expected to place a phone call disclosing locations or details of the operation,” he warned.
