Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana has joined Bologna on a season-long loan deal from Atalanta, with an option to buy included in the agreement.

The 21-year-old is set to strengthen Bologna’s midfield under new coach Vincenzo Italiano, providing both depth and long-term flexibility for the Rossoblù as they prepare for a demanding Serie A and Europa League campaign.

Sulemana only joined Atalanta in July 2024 from Cagliari in a transfer worth €7.4 million. Despite limited playing time, he made 10 appearances in his debut season, scoring twice — including a decisive strike against Roma that proved crucial in Atalanta’s successful push for Champions League qualification.

The Bergamo club still view Sulemana as a long-term asset, with his contract running until June 2028, but have sanctioned the move to allow him more regular minutes in Serie A.

Bologna, who enjoyed a strong league campaign last season, see Sulemana as a versatile option capable of operating across multiple midfield roles. His energy, ball-winning ability, and tactical flexibility are expected to complement Italiano’s high-intensity system.

The took to the internet to announce his arrival.

The Ghanaian joins a handful of compatriots who will play in the UEFA Europa League this season, adding to the growing Ghanaian influence across Europe.

Sulemana is expected to join the Black Stars camp tonight or tomorrow morning as preparations continue for Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali. The Black Stars take on Chad on Thursday, September 4 in N'djamena before hosting Mali four days after in Accra.

For Sulemana, the move represents both an opportunity to gain consistent playing time and a platform to further cement his reputation as one of Ghana’s promising young midfielders in Italian football.
