Jealous rage turns deadly: Three laid to rest after lover sets family home ablaze

Grief has gripped a community in the Western North Region as three victims of a deadly arson attack have been laid to rest, following a tragic incident that stemmed from a disputed relationship.

The suspect, Numatekpor Kwaku, a 23-year-old palm wine tapper popularly known as “On God,” is alleged to have set fire to his girlfriend’s family home at Bibiani Subrinkwanta after being warned to end the relationship.

The victims—19-year-old Benedicta Kudjo Felicia, a student of Queen Senior High School, her mother Maame Mary Oppong, 61, and 22-year-old Dora Adoma Kudjo—lost their lives when the fire engulfed the house.

According to reports, the family had strongly opposed the relationship, citing Felicia’s status as a student, and had cautioned the suspect to stay away.

The situation reportedly escalated after he allegedly issued threats to burn down the house if he was prevented from marrying her.

Authorities say he later carried out the threat, resulting in the devastating blaze that claimed three lives.

The solemn burial of the victims has drawn widespread sorrow, with residents still reeling from the brutality of the act. Meanwhile, the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue into the incident.
