KNUST begins investigation into student’s suicid

Investigations into the circumstances leading to the death of an 18-year-old student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has begun, school authorities have said
The deceased, Adwoa Agyarkwa Anyimadu-Antwi, is alleged to have committed suicide is believed to have hanged herself on Friday morning over some failed course.
The daughter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem Central Constituency, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, although the reason for her act is yet to be known, but reports suggest she had lamented over the past week that she was not performing well academically as expected by her parents.
A note believed to have been left behind by her read, “am sorry to disappoint you mummy and daddy”.
But authorities of the University say they have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of her death.
The first year chemical engineering student was found lifeless on Friday morning with a rope tied around her neck and hanged unto the ceiling of her room.
Her body has since been deposited at the KNUST hospital morgue.
