The board and management of Asante Kotoko SC have issued an apology to supporters following growing concern over the club’s recent performances and the absence of a substantive head coach.
In a statement signed by Communications Director Sarfo Duku, the Kumasi-based side acknowledged the frustration among fans, conceding that results have fallen short of expectations.
“The board and management acknowledge the concerns raised by our supporters regarding the absence of a substantive head coach and the team’s recent poor results,” the statement said.
Kotoko, one of Ghana’s most successful clubs, said it understood the weight of expectations that come with representing the team and assured supporters that efforts are ongoing to address the situation.
Club officials confirmed that the process to appoint a permanent head coach is underway, with a focus on finding a candidate whose philosophy aligns with the club’s long-term ambitions. Supporters have been urged to remain patient as the search continues.
The club also apologised for what it described as disappointing recent performances, adding that decisive steps are being taken to restore the team to its traditional competitive standards.
“The future of this club remains our top priority, and we are committed to making the right choices moving forward,” the statement added.
The apology comes at a challenging time for Kotoko, who have struggled for consistency in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.
A heavy 4-0 defeat to Medeama SC last Sunday has intensified pressure on the team, as they look to steady their season. Attention now turns to their Matchday 30 fixture against Hohoe United, followed by an away clash with Dreams FC in Matchday 31.
For many supporters, the hope is that clarity over leadership and improved performances on the pitch will help steady the club in the weeks ahead.
