Asante Kotoko SC is set to represent Ghana in the prestigious Capital City Africa Cup this October in Washington, DC.

The team will depart for the United States on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, to participate in a high-profile international friendly match against Major League Soccer (MLS) side DC United on October 12, 2024.

This exciting clash will take place at the state-of-the-art Audi Field in Washington, DC, as part of the annual Ghana Week DC 2024 celebrations.

Organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the ceremonial match aims to highlight Ghanaian culture in the U.S. capital.

The GFA has fully endorsed Asante Kotoko’s participation in this international event, marking only the second time a Ghanaian Premier League club has traveled to face an MLS side in the U.S.

The first occasion saw Medeama SC fall 2-1 to an MLS team in a similar friendly on October 14, 2023.

Asante Kotoko, eager to make an impression on the global stage, will be looking to showcase the skill and talent of Ghanaian football during this encounter.

Before their departure for the U.S., the Porcupine Warriors will take on Accra Lions at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday, October 6, in a matchday five fixture of the Ghana Premier League.

Currently sitting second in the league standings with eight points—just one behind leaders Medeama SC—Asante Kotoko is determined to continue their strong form, both domestically and internationally.
