Legon Cities recorded their third win of the Ghana Premier League season with a spirited comeback to defeat Basake Holy Stars 2-1 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in their match-week 12 encounter on Sunday.

The visiting Holy Stars started strongly, taking an early lead through a penalty expertly converted by Prince Opoku in the 16th minute.

The goal put Legon Cities on the back foot as they faced mounting pressure in their battle to avoid relegation.

However, coach Paa Kwesi Fabin's side responded impressively after conceding, launching a series of attacks that forced the visitors into defensive errors.

The Royals' efforts paid off when defender Frank Akoto equalized with a powerful strike in the 33rd minute.

Just three minutes later, Kojo Gyesi completed the comeback by finding the back of the net in the 36th minute, giving Legon Cities a 2-1 lead before halftime.

The second half saw Legon Cities maintain their advantage despite pressure from Holy Stars, who were eager to find an equalizer.

Solid defensive work and tactical discipline ensured that Legon Cities held on to claim a crucial win.

Despite the victory, Legon Cities remain in the bottom three with 11 points, while Basake Holy Stars drop to 13th position with 12 points after match-week 12.
