LIVE: Ken Ofori-Atta appears in US court as extradition to Ghana looms

Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is currently appearing before a U.S. court, following actions taken by U.S. immigration authorities regarding his legal status in the country.
The court proceedings follow U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) ‘s determination that Mr Ofori-Atta no longer has lawful status to remain in the United States, a development that could pave the way for extradition proceedings to Ghana.
Mr Ofori-Atta was apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on January 6, 2026, at his residence in the Westlight Building in D.C., following the revocation of his visa in mid-2025.
